Nawazuddin Siddiqui Opens Up On Being Depressed Due To Lack Of Work And Money: ‘Felt As If I Am Going To Die Soon’
In the days following Sushant Singh Rajput’s demise, people on social media, and even celebrities opened up about several topics such as nepotism, power politics, and battling depression. A few celebrities such as Deepika Padukone have also been stressing the importance of mental health. Sacred Games star Nawazuddin Siddiqui also opened up about his fight with depression, and revealed he was once depressed due to lack of work and money, and thought that he would die.

In an interview with Zoom TV, Nawazuddin revealed that he went into depression, but successfully came out of it. He struggled and fought hard to simply survive and earn for 10 years. He said, “I have always had mazdoor-like hardworking, fighting spirit. I don’t think that I am bigger than them. I had the same intentions as theirs. I didn’t dream of becoming a star. My only intention was to survive and earn for the next meal. It continued for 10 years. I did odd jobs and walked to my friend’s house for food. There were difficult times but we were happy even then. But ya, I did feel depressed at times because of lack of work. Depression and frustration start when you dream big.”

He revealed his struggle and how back then, he felt he would die soon. He revealed that he used to walk to his friend’s house, without train, for food, and walk back on foot. “Because I wasn’t eating well, so I was getting weak and my hair started falling off. I used to get tired after walking 2 km. I felt as if I am going to die soon. Because of which I used to stay out all day to see the world because I didn’t know how many days will I survive,” said Nawazuddin.


Meanwhile, Nawazuddin Siddiqui mourned the demise of Sushant Singh Rajput, and wrote, " I can’t believe this at all... it’s shocking... a beautiful actor and a good friend... it’s disheartening #RestInPeace my friend #sushantsinghrajput Strength to the family and friends." Sushant Singh Rajput was cremated on Monday at Pawan Hans Crematorium in Mumbai, a day after his death. Shraddha Kapoor, Ekta Kapoor, Kriti Sanon, Rajkummar Rao, Ranvir Shorey, Mukesh Chhabra were among those who attended the funeral.
